Yeah, I guess that's what I was saying. Just kind of an apathy thing.

A&F seems to be a lot less popular here in Canada... the few people I do see wearing it usually have spiky hair and blonde highlights and lots of gel, and probably cargo shorts or maybe way-too-pre-faded denim.

Re: Dressing like a Teenager?

The big thing around here is Hollister but I only own a couple items now.. Everywhere you look there's kids wearing the same shirts, it's scary.. We have a carnival around early Sept. I was walking around with a few of my friends and everywhere I looked there were 16 and 17-year old kids wearing the same exact Hollister shirts and jeans.. It made me want to hit them.

The thing I like about Abercrombie & Fitch is how big of a selection they have.. I never have a problem buying a shirt and seeing someone with the same thing on.

Again, I'm not really big into brands names. When it comes to A&F or AE it's the colors I like. They have a lot of different reds, blues, dark oranges, light greens.. that I like and look good in.

Re: Dressing like a Teenager?

A lot of it isn't so much the colors, it's more the cut of the shirt.

I'm trying to make the same transition, but it seems like the more mature clothes look terrible.

Re: Dressing like a Teenager?

They are. These supposed 'mature' clothes are bland in their personality. I like fun colors.. matching accessories.. what have you. It's too bad I'm not a rock star, it really is. I want to be able to get away with wearing these kinds of clothes forever..

Re: Dressing like a Teenager?

I really can't wait to make the transition to suit and tie. It just seems that it will be much easier.

Re: Dressing like a Teenager?

Well, a lot of what I wear is from Banana Republic, with some other stuff mixed in. I feel like banana is just dressy enough to be taken seriously, but not to the point that you feel stuffy wearing it.

I've never worn AE or A&F in my entire life, and I basically never will.

It's funny, because a couple of my friends are trying to be rappers, and they had a show on Friday night at a bar here in NYC. The group that went on after them were three white kids from suburban Connecticut, and they brought a lot of their friends from the CT suburbs with them. And it was incredible...EVERYBODY was dressed the same. All the guys were wearing the same Hollister-type shit and the same baseball hats tilted just slightly to the side, and all the girls were dressed exactly the same. And then I looked at my friends and everybody was dressed differently, had different style haircuts, etc.

I think thats one of the reasons I've always hated Abercrombie and American Eagle so much...they're basically designed so that everybody looks the same.

That and because muffuckas started "popping their collars" on AE/A&F shirts like 10 years after people in New York used to do it with Polo/Hilfiger/Nautica shirts. It was nice to see everybody finally catch up.

Re: Dressing like a Teenager?

Someone please explain to me what 'mature clothes' are.

I say wear whatever you want and feel comfortable in but when in the workplace you do need to dress for your job. Even if that means you cant really wear what you would normally, as long as you look smart I dont see the problem. That guy was probably just going through his mid life crisis.

*sigh*

Yeah, that's Connecticut alright. It's too bad I actually like the clothes I wear.. I hate it when people are only doing it to fit in.
