Re: Black Friday

Hell no, never gone and never will.

"Black Friday" for me has always been a day where I put up the Christmas decorations. Put on some Christmas tunes, hang the lights, garland, fake tree (sometimes) and get in the mood. It's a jolly time.

I'm looking forward to Black Friday, but not because of the shopping. Those people are nuts.

I thought this was a thread about the stock market crash before the Great Depression.

I already have some of my shopping done!

Re: Black Friday

the term "Black Friday" has been traced back only to the 1970s. "Black Friday" was originally so named because of the heavy traffic on that day, although most contemporary uses of the term refer instead to it as the beginning of the period in which retailers are in the black (i.e., turning a profit).

Re: Black Friday

Wasn't it referred too as green friday before? That'd make more sense since people spend the good green that day

Re: Black Friday

We don't normally have anything like that until the first day of the January sales, that really gets crazy and i try to avoid it whenever i can.

However i'm normally working so i don't see the people that go out at like 2 in the morning just to wait till the stores open.

Re: Black Friday

Around here, the months of January, February, and March are the slowest for sales. Since the holiday season is over, nobody wants to spend any money since they are low on it.

I remember when I worked in retail and when January rolled around, I'd be lucky if I got scheduled for 14 hours a week.

So over there, Mikk, sales get crazy in January? Odd.

kb calls it that which is ironic, cause they couldn't make money if they made it themselves. They'd still manage to lose it...
