thinking Question

So one of my friends from HS just went into the hospital this weekend for Leukemia tests. I know nothing of Leukemia and how it effects people. Has anyone had experience with this? I don't know what to expect if it turns out she has it or not...

Re: Question

Well, Leukemia is a form of cancer related to the blood cells in your body. MayoClinic would be your best bet for finding out information regarding Leukemia.

No form of cancer is good, and I don't know where Leukemia falls in regards to curability / treatment.

Was your friend showing signs of Leukemia, or is there a history of it in her family? If she has it, you should expect that she's going to need a good support system to help her deal with the disease and it's treatment. If she doesn't, then... there is nothing to worry about. Your best bet is to learn more about it so you can be helpful in comforting her and understanding what she may / may not go through should she be diagnosed as positive.

The best advise I can give in a situation like this is, don't get upset or worry about it until the diagnosis has been made. If her results are positive, take comfort that it was diagnosed rather early on (assuming she's around the same age as yourself)... Early detection is key, as is a good support system, and a positive outlook.
