Lord, Christmas season has already begun...

I'm an atheist and I don't give a fuck that people that are christians (or whatever) want to feel that I'm not appreciating the true manner of it. For me, it's a time of the year that people show extra generosity to others, party harder and better, sing songs and spend some quality holiday time with their family.

This is the way of the christmas season for me and millions of others and, do you know what, as long as I'm not killing virgins and praying to the satan overlord, I kind of think if there were a god up there, he'd be pretty mean spirited to begrudge us that.

Yes, you have the right idea. That's basically what it's supposed to be about. But the entire reason you're supposed to even show generosity is because of what Jesus Christ did. Hence why it's called Christmas. Not, "let's just all be nice and have a jolly old time one week or one day out of the year."

Also from what I've gathered in most faiths, you could be the best person on earth, giving to charity and whatnot. But if that person doesn't believe in God it matters not. I do question that a bit, because I admit that's a little weird, but then again all God is asking for is belief.

Again, this time of the year wouldn't even exist without Christ. The entire reason it's supposed to be celebrated is for Christ. You're not really celebrating Christmas, without Christ, you're just mimicking it.

But what does it matter if I just don't care?

I'm 21 years old. (TD is 79.) I've had 21 fantastic December 25th's. (TD has had at least 60.) I've never sat around with my family on that day listening to music and eating great food while praising or really even thinking about Jesus... And I don't mean that at all as a knock on Christianity, at-all-at-all. It's just a day of the year when my family gets together and shows love and generosity and good feelings.

Doesn't matter a jot to me SS. I am an atheist and a reveller in good times. Any excuse for people being nicer to each other, giving each other pressies, snogging under the misteltoe and enjoying all the things that make living so fucking great is all good with me.

You can sit there and celebrate in your own way, and I will not tell you that what you are doing is wrong. Just get on with it and enjoy it. At the end of the day, it'll be god's decision (if he does exist) to judge us all on how we live and how we celebrated the birth of his son. This is not your job!!

I always thought Christmas started with the pagans.

Like Tyler said, I use Christmas to celebrate good times with the family and friends. I do not celebrate it with Christianity in my mind. For those that do, it's what you do; it's not what I do. If there is a God, Tyler we're going to be having some fun times together, because I think we're going to the same place. Do you think you'll be able to wait about 40 years for me?
