Funny People really. They want to abolish government as a whole. Does anybody else realize that the only thing they are abolishing is the structure? I mean really, do people get the fact that we will ALWAYS be governed by somebody/thing? Whether it's the way it is now, or if it's by bankers, billionaires, gangsters, it doesn't freakin' matter. There will always be some form of control. Also, I find it sadly ironic that most of the people who are lobbying for it, would be the first ones dead in it.

idk, but i find it really annoying the people who for some reason always think the government is always after them or they blame everything on the government.

I don't think it would be possible to live without laws or rulers. We need moral limits. I think government is absolutely necessary. Otherwise everything would just be chaos even more so then now.

Without a formal government the U.S. would be completely chaotic.

With that said, I think our government right now is way too constrictive and I think we really need to start re-implementing the ideas of the founding fathers. They were non-interventionists that believe in free trade and diplomacy. We need to get out of the business of nation building and feeling that it is out responsibility of making every country a democracy. That is a road to disaster for us. We cannot make people change if they don't want to change.

Regardless of form, the first thing that generally indicates a civilized culture is the emergence of some sort of governing system. Even hunter/gatherer primitive humans from over 6 million years ago had a governing system, most of which were democratic. It may be something primitive, such as the eldest members rule, a particular family might rule by patriarchy, or it might be a complex democratic government we see in most countries today.

I agree with SS, we are always going to govern ourselves somehow. If the American government ceased to exist, I imagine people would simply organize themselves some other way. This pattern usually goes from smaller to larger. So, maybe from a family clan to a town unit, and over a long period of time, would build back up to something larger, granting globalization is still dominant. It is human nature to rule and be ruled.

As we exit the state of nature we have to form government. We surrender a certain level of freedom in exchange for safety and basic human needs.
