You HAVE to teach a kid about homosexuality?

Officials told the couple that under the regulations they would be required to discuss same-sex relationships with children as young as 11 and tell them that gay partnerships were just as acceptable as heterosexual marriages.

They could also be required to take teenagers to gay association meetings.

When the Mathericks objected, they were told they would be taken off the register of foster parents.

The Mathericks have decided to resign rather than face the humiliation of being expelled.

Christian, Jewish and Muslim leaders have complained that the rules force them to overturn long-held beliefs.

I don't think that it's right that they should be forced to make them accept it. I think belief systems are belief systems. However they should be forced to mention it and talk about it

Well a kid should at least know about them and understand that while its not the beliefs that their parents follow, that that doesnt make it wrong and that it is out there. People have the right to a full education and then be able to make up their own minds about whats acceptable to them. Just cause their parents believe, doesnt make it gospel.

I think there is an age where it is appropriate for kids to know about such things.

I would say around 12 would probably be a good age.

Why would you tell a 5 year old about homosexuals when you know they don't understand?

There has to be some limits there.

Yep, agreed

But Mike, I agree to an extent, but they should at least tell them about homosexuality, even if they then want to go on and say that they dont think its right. They should know whats out there in the world, from a trusted source before they see it for themselves or their friends tell them.

but that shoulnt mean that the kids should be taken away. Thata just wrong.

They should be teaching about love, tolerance, and respect for every individual despite sexual or religious differences.

A child should be able to make up his or her own conclusions from that.

Oh I know, and if I implied that Im sorry. It doesnt affect their parenting ability at all.
