Your type of party

We had our annual company "birthday" party last week, which is a function I always dread. I think I've nailed why at last. There's usually about 150-200 people at this function and I just hate "big" parties. I seem to function much better in smaller, more intimate parties. Anything up to 20ish should be fine.

What about you? Do you like big parties? Or prefer the smaller scale "bash"?

Re: Your type of party

Never been to a party except a family members birthday party.

I would assume that I would like a smaller party though.

Re: Your type of party

I'm a fan of parties where the amount is 15-20.

If you're in a party of 200 and only know a select few, you find you have to cling to those couple of people the entire night in fear of actually talking to someone you don't know.

Do you have a problem with my sig?

Re: Your type of party

I like parties of about 100 people.

My buddies used to have parties all the time last year that were about that size, but you knew practically everyone there. So you could just walk around and mingle. It was good because they didn't put super loud music on either. Nothing is worse when you are trying to have a conversation with someone, and you are forced to yell over top of a huge speaker.

Re: Your type of party

Big parties, 200-300 people... True you might hang with only a select few, but those select few start to grow into more as you meet others. He with the most friends is the man with the most business. I guess that depends on the type of party and the age group of those attending. Partying can be a great way to develop friendships, and also business relationships. Just have to be careful of how you handle yourself, depending on your reasoning for being there.

I like smaller gatherings too however. Poker parties, parties pertaining to watching sports, or just a Get fucked up party... it's all good.
