Religion

now i have nothing against religion dont get me wrong but im in the mood for a debate and well...this is always a huge debate lol

now im not saying religion is bad ok it brings some peopel hope and a sense but is it lost in a world where basically religion has been completely disproven personally i cant connect with things in the bible...like ive had a good life pretty easy not too many bad things have happened so i cant feel connected to what hte bible says about hardship tough times and stuff and im all for love and what not but personally i dont need a religion to tell me love is good hate is bad...

also it doesnt help that i have had christianity SHOVED down my throat at school, like i can get expelled for saying things against jesus and stuff and i have lost all respect for the church for all their past mistakes that they havent lived up to (50 million woman died during the witch burnings)

i dont know whats your view on this crazy thign

i turned atheist because ive been through so much in my life and no good is happening still so ive given up faith.

Personally I am agnostic. I dont know if there is a godlike being, but i would like to think there is. Knowing that would mean assurance as to something of an after life. I really can't imagine dieing and there being nothing, not even nothingness existing after you die. Reincarnation is a possibility, but there will probably never be a way to really test any theories of the afterlife.

i am a atheist and believe alot of the world problems come down to religion, the war in iraq is a war based on was you believe in, in ireland it was a war about religion and the list goes on, to me the world would be better with out religion.
sorry to anyone that i have pissed off in that post, of which i would have thought would be a few.

Contrary to popular beleif, I am Roman Catholic.
I have never read the bible.
I haven't been to church in about 7 years.
I don't beleive in following every little rule in the bible. But I always try to do what I consider to be the right thing to do.
God is who I go to, to seek strength to get through tough times.
I don't go preaching my religion to anyone, and I don't expect anyone to come and preaching their religion to me.
Everyone is entitled to their own beleifs.

AS to what Thew was saying about having it shoved down his throat... I know a lot of people have this issue, but remember true christianity, or any religion for that matter, should be viewed on a personal level. Because one small number of people have thrown it at you doesn't mean you have to throw it back. Keep in mind that it is a very personal thing between you and God and don't let someone else ruin that for you if you honestly would want to have that relationship with Him. That is only between you and Him and srew what everyone else tries to do.

And there are some pretty horrific things that have happened in the past including the witch burnings, but that is the people of that time to blame, not the religion.
