Re: Is it better to leave a friend in the dark?

Before I read the replies........

I think you are a shit ass friend if you KNOW for an absolute fact that your buddies getting porked behind his back and he/she is unaware. Heresay and rumors are one thing. You are almost doing a disservice to the person if you are approaching them without facts, so in that case, do a little investigating or leave it alone.

Because its an absolute slap in their face when they do eventually find out an know that you knew the whole time.

To me, being loyal to your good friends is one of THE most important things in life. If you don't have good friends or family, you don't have anything.

*edit, I read the replies*. I think that one Drunken mistake or not its still what they wanted to do, so basically just let him go if I were the cheated on. People use alchohol as an excuse far too often. I have been drunk more than most people on the board I would imagine and I have never once cheated. Not on the wife, not even on girlfriends when I was younger. Not once.

In my mind, its just the excuse someone gives themself to justify their actions.

Re: Is it better to leave a friend in the dark?

I had to tell two people, the first dude didnt get pissed at me, and it made me feel like a good buddy for getting him away from that whore, but the other dude got all pissy with me, and is still with that same girl.

You gotta do what you think you need to do. Its up to that person to be weak minded and turn on you, or realise they need to cut that person loose.

Re: Is it better to leave a friend in the dark?

I have to agree with what Giggly said earlier. When push comes to shove, I believe it would be difficult to actually go and tell them. It's a pretty serious manner. Of course, I believe it's the RIGHT thing to do to tell your friend..however. Sometimes you just don't know how your friend will take it. Maybe he won't believe you, and instead side with his girlfriend? Sometimes people get cloudy-headed, and will just believe whatever they want to believe.

I was in that situation before (cheated). It was the dumbest thing I've ever done in my life. Eventually, my girlfriend found out, as was said above. They ALWAYS find out. Friends of friends of friends talked, and eventually someone came back and told her.

And now, here it is...your moment of Carlin (10/10/2008)

I don't think we should be governing ourselves. What we need is a king, and every now and then if the king's not doing a good job, we kill him.

Re: Is it better to leave a friend in the dark?

If I knew with out a doubt that my friends gf/bf was cheating, I'd let them know. If I didn't know for sure, I'd look into it more, ask my friend if they know who the other person is or if they know their partner is hanging out with them.

Definitly tell them, you are not the one that hurt (their partner is), your the one that stopped everyone else from talking about while she looked like an idiot.
