Some of you may already know this but I work at grocery store. Been there about a year and started down at the bottom. Started out making 6.00 an hour then got bumped up to 6.25 within three months. Moved up to running the cahs register for awhile, and now jusr recently as were re-doing the store I got moved to work directly under the store manager. Basically cleaning, helping stock/ take down displays pretty much whatever he needs. I thought I would get a raise for this, but I didn't. Anyways come to find out they starting hiring people up-front (the spot i got promoted from) and gave them 7.00 an hour with no experience and 7.50 if they had experience. I asked my boss and she promised she'd take care of it and that was a few weeks back. Still haven't got one, but the old employees that were making 6.25 even got a raise and I didn't. How would you monkers handle this?
Edit_ i don't think it's that I'm doing a lackluster job either as the District manager even complimented on how well I was doing.
You definitely need to talk to the manager again and let him know that you still haven't got a raise and be persistent about it until he gives it to you.
One time I found out that a co-worker where I work that had not been there as long as I have had gotten a raise and was making more than me. I immediately took it to the District Manager (The DM handles the pay raise for the company I work for) and he gave me a raise to equal her pay.
It could be as simple as he forgot to do it, but you need to be persistent and make sure you get what is coming to you. A lof companies will pull things like this hoping that the person will forget.

Re: Dilemma at work
I hate unions. Maybe they run better in your crazy land Tyler, but out here, not so good.
Maybe you need to sleep w/ someone to get a raise. Sounds like Dak lucked out and out of coincidence that girl who was getting paid more was sleeping w/ the boss and so they gave him a raise to keep his mouth shut since they figured he knew.

Ha ha ha.....I don't think that was the case.
They gave her a raise for being a temporary key holder. But I brought to his attention all the times that I traveled to other stores to help them out and such, and the fact that I had been with the company longer than the girl in question.
We are only talking 15 cents here, but it was the principle of the matter for me.

A.) Do a good job.
B.) Are content with your job.
C.) You've gone along with what they'd told you to do.
Therefore, they see no reason to give you a raise. Be a bigger pain in the ass; you'll get your raise.
I'm surprised you're not represented by a union too.
Yeah that's what I'm thinking as well. I'm really thinking about just saying forget and no-showing their asses tomorrow. I know that's probably not the right thing but it may help them get the hint. I really don't even care if it's above the people up front's pay (though it'd be deserved and nice) but the fact I'm the one who didn't get a raise when everyone else did is fucking bullshit. And if I had to sleep with my boss to get a raise I'd just quit. She's like 300 lbs and looks like a friggin Lesbian.

I would just bring it to their attention again and make it obvious that you are not going to forget about it.
No showing will not help.
Just keep asking them about it until you get it. They will eventually make sure you get it just to shut you up.....lol.

Re: Dilemma at work
I asked if I can move up a few grade levels at work. it's a big increase and it's questionable as to when I'm supposed to move up b/c more grad school education = higher grade level. I'm now at that higher grad school level. But I started at the less grad school education level and now may have to do raises like the normal employees based on years of service rather than years of education.
cross my fingers.
I usually start making as much or more than the rest of the people in my postion. So the raise doesnt bother me as much until one year comes up, then I start asking for it.
