Man With Gun To Head Uses Wrestling Moves To Pin, Capture Carjacking Suspect
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A man in Orlando who had a gun pointed at his head during a carjacking used school-taught wrestling moves and his legs to disarm and then pin the culprit until officers arrived, according to police.
Elio Manso said he was getting into his truck late Saturday night at the Reserve at Rosemont Apartments when an unknown man pointed a gun at his head.
"He put the gun to my head and said, 'Get out (of the truck) and give me your cell phone,'" Manso said.
Manso said he refused to give up his car and then used moves he learned as a wrestler at school, knocking the culprit to the ground.
During the scuffle, several other men, who were apparently working with the culprit, began to beat Manso, the report said.
However, Manso said he used a leg wrestling move to "lock up" the suspect until neighbors noticed the scuffle.
"I crossed my legs around his stomach and held him," Manso said.
Neighbors called 911 after noticing the scuffle and police arrested the carjacking suspect. A name of the suspect was not given in the Monday report.
Manso was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Police said they do not recommend fighting someone who is armed and said Manso was lucky to be alive.
The two men also involved in the incident fled the area and are still on the loose.
