Who was a pretty great orator and able to lift the spirits of many with his speaches.

History is littered with great speakers, both political and on stage or cinema.

We don't seem to have so many nowadays....but am I wrong? Who is a great speaker now? Do you have any favourite speaches from history that you loved reading....the kind that made the hairs go up on the back of your neck?

I always liked the Patrick Henry speech in which he urged the legislature to take action upon the British forces. The most famous line of the speech being the ending as follows:

"......Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!"

As for good speakers today, I don't really know of any. It seems that politicians today just want to sling mud at the other party and do not make good speeches.
