i got 200 dollars on me right now. last night i went through some boxes of mine and i remember when i was about 9 or 12 before i went on a plane for a trip and we went to the store for gum, pop/soda, etc and my mom asked me if there was anything i wanted for reading. i saw a Knuckles the Echinda comic book and that might be my only comic book expirence....ever. i'm thinking of ordering Marvel comics because that's the only thing that comes to mind when i think about comics. and other comics in mind that i'll be able to get?
Whats cool is going to a comic book shop, and getting the books. I dont know much about them, but basically they are the full series of comics in one larger book. Easier to get the whole story, and much easier to find them.
As far as particular comic books I'm a basic Superman, and Spiderman fan.
I've always been a huge fan of X-Men comic books. Now, they have the "new generation" or whatever, so I'm not up-to-speed with all the new characters, but I think for the most part they are the same ones, just updated.
Also, getting the Marvel vs. DC series are a great read. They basically introduce you to every character in those two universes.
And now, here it is...your moment of Carlin (12/3/2008)
Violent American movies like Die Hard, Terminator, and Lethal Weapon do very well in places like Canada, Japan, and Europe. Very well. Yet these countries do not have nearly the violence of the United States. In 1989, in all of Japan, with a population of 150 million, there were 754 murders. In New York City that year, with a population of only 7.5 million, there were 2,300. It's bred in the bone. Movies and television don't make you violent; all they do is channel the violence more creatively.
The only ones I read at the moment is the limited series The Gunslinger Born comics. They're based on Book 4 of Stephen King's Dark Tower series, and are a good read, and introduce you to the story very well.
Tomorrow's Just An Excuse Away, So I Pull My Collar Up And Face The Cold, On My Own. The Earth Laughs Beneath My Heavy Feet, At The Blasphemy In My Old Jangly Walk.
so far i've found Marvel on the net and it looks like i didn't miss much because The Avengers and the New Avengers(or something like that) is just starting. both are on the 4-6 issues of the series. I saw The Origin of Wolverine that caught my eye but curently it's on about the 40th issue and i want to read that from the starting. i'm going to have to search for the others you guys suggested somemore.
