Love Relationship Rule Number One

Relationship Rule Number One - Never go after your friends ex.

Do you follow this one? have you ever been guilty of not obeying this before? What would you do if someone in your circle of friends did it? Cause at the moment, 2 of my friends broke up, and now one of the guys friends has moved in on the girl. Its a tad awkward, and Im not quite sure what to say to them.

We aren't supposed to but one time one of my friend's ex was flirting with me and I couldn't help but be interested. She's hot as hell. We didn't hook up though so he has nothing to bitch about.

Re: Relationship Rule Number One

I dated a friend's ex he was really pissed off bc he was like still in love with her, but they were best friends and she had made it clear she never wanted to date him again so I didn't see the harm.

He actually ended up trying to sabotage the relationship so in the end she dumped me so he would stop.

A week after she dumped me he asked her out and she just yelled at him saying blah blah I already told you and now they aren't friends.

So yea...broke the rule.

And I've dated a girl who my friend hadn't dated yet but still had a massive crush on...I'm such a dick...lol

Re: Relationship Rule Number One

The thing that stuns me, everyone is mad at the dude, saying he shouldnt have betrayed the friendship, but what about her? She's moved on within a month or two to his friend. isnt that equally as harsh?

Never go after a friends ex within a 3 month period. That's the rule I live by.

Would it matter if they still had feelings for her after the 3 months had passed?

Re: Relationship Rule Number One

I got a crush on a couple of friends girlfriends and ex-es' back in the day. It's hard not to, because....well they were usually pretty hot, and you knew they'd put out and what they got up to (which always sounded great!) and, besides, you probably already chat to them at a level that goes beyond just chatting to strangers, so it's hard not to mix up your messages.

Bottom line though is, if everyone is cool about it, why not? If they are not cool.....well you can always get new friends!!

Re: Relationship Rule Number One

Personally, I'd never do it. When I was in Upper School, I had a crush on my friends girlfriend. We weren't even that close friends, but when they broke up, I wouldn't make a move on her.

At the very least, it's the responsibility of the friend to ask if it's ok to date his/her ex. If he says no, then back away, but if he's ok, then it's a green light.

I think you never really get over someone you've dated, especially if it's been a long term relationship. With me, I still feel for every girl I've dated, it's just that for whatever reason we weren't meant to take it further. It's like I still have those original feelings for them, just now they're coated with a bitchy material on time that I can't get through.

By 3 months the guy should have definitely had time to cope with the fact that he's likely not going to get back with that girl. If it takes him seeing her with another guy (me) then so be it.

Re: Relationship Rule Number One

I never did this, but I wouldn't care. If she's single and into me, she's fair game. I don't care who she was with, and what kind of relationship she had with who ever, it's alllllllllll goooooooooooooooooooooooood.......... but I wouldn't go after her just after her leaving a buddy though.

U MAD
