The fact that this massacre happened sucks. It's a terrible, tragic event. But to try to place blame on anybody besides the psychopathic killer is extremely misguided. The question shouldnt be "How could the police allow this to happen?"
The question should be "How could anybody do this?"
I 100% agree with this. I'm pretty sick of the BBC News making out like this was some massive error on part of the police.
One kid they interviewed on News 24 made a lot of sense when he said that if they had locked down the building then that would have given the shooter a lot of people to kill in a close vicinity and they would have had no means of escape.
Blame culture will tear the Uni and Police apart, they are wrong and when people look back they will realise that.
So the police were correct in "assuming" that a double murderer left the campus?
I think the college is at fault for not at least sending out an email, text message or siren alert about what was going on.
I just feel like they were like "Oh well, anyone who killed two people most likely would have left"
Last time I checked murderers don't use logic most of the time.
To be honest I am suprised it took this long for the "biggest mass murder spree" in American history.
How about this? Give everyone a gun. This way people wont think they are so ruthless with a gun. It will be like the old west (and no I dont think thats an actual, logical solution, but it would deter people from waving their metal cocks around like they own the world)
It's about time......now bring on his next fued....
That last paragraph is actually a pretty interesting thought DD.
I have never quite made up my mind on the gun control issue.
On the one hand, a gun in the hand of a criminal is an effective way to do damage. Thus, if you make it harder for people to get guns, then it becomes harder for criminals to kill people.
On the other side of the equation, if everybody at Va. Tech had one, that kid could have picked off one, maybe two people before somebody took him down.
On the other hand, your chances of stray shootings, accidental firings, innocent bystanders getting hit, etc. would increase substantially if everybody had guns
It's a very complex issue, and one that I'm not sure I'll ever be able to take a firm, definitive stance on
The interesting argument you will hear if you haven't is are these instances going to have people lobby for a gun ban? If you ban guns, then will you ban knives as well? Of course, even if someone has a machete, they are not going to be able to kill that number of people without coming against one or more people that will stop them. I believe in the right to own a firearm, and even if you take that right away, the ones who pull shit like this will still get them. It will be the law abiding citizens that can't protect themselves.
Also, did you hear about the teacher that selflessly (is that even a word.... but you know what I mean) placed himself at the door of the classroom and took the bullets that were intended for the students. I would like to think that I could have the strength, courage, the moral whatever to do that for a fellow person that wasn't my children or wife..
Oh, and yes, there was a email sent out by the school administration I believe, and yes, everyone should own a gun and be able to carry a gun. I hate that thought, but it would make things fair in a unfair world, and maybe people would think twice. Then again, this asshole offed himself, so he wasn't that worried that someone might get him before he was done.
The campus should have been on lockdown until the shooter was in custody. That is all I have to say about that.
What we really need to look at here is campus security. Colleges spend money on planting flowers and adding building to their campus to attract new students. They spend very little money in the way of campus security. It is overlooked until something like this happens. What needs to happen is that the public must demand that Universities and Colleges put more money into their campus security programs.
Also what I don't get is why were the police ducking behind cars and trees and waiting for SWAT teams to arrive? SWAT is for hostage situations and this was not a hostage situation. This guy was walking around and shooting people at random. The police should have been running in the building and locating the shooter and stopping him with whatever force in necessary. That is their job.
What really makes me sick to my stomach about this whole thing is that it is being made about gun control as a whole.
Directly after this happened they had a list of gun control laws related to shotguns and rifles in Virginia while playing this really sad music.
What the fuck does this have to do with shotguns and rifles? NOTHING!!
Gun control laws need to be tightened up. They don't need to make it harder for law abiding CITIZENS to buy guns or own guns. Gun control laws needs to be made tougher in Virginia. For one thing, only citizens of the United States should be allowed to buy guns legally. This guy was a legal alien and bought a gun legally. That is not right.
And that is the word from West Virginia.
The destruction of the past is perhaps the greatest of all crimes.

Just interesting fact, Yesterday in Campbellford at the Elementry school someone went up to a class room window and stuck a gun in the window just to scare the shit out of kids and teacher inside because he had a bad time in Elementry school. He got the idea from these shootings =\
Thats about 2 minutes away from where I hand in my school work every week.
*Cops were called in 2005 because he stalked two girls and called none stop*Teacher pulled him from the class because his writings were way too disturbing, and offered to take him to counseling*
Cho sent a package to NBC, before the shootings. They recieved the package today a couple hours ago, they didn't say what was in it, but have turned it over to the FBI.
