The End of the World

All things come to an end and earth is no different. I don't expect to see the end of earth as we know it in my lifetime but it has to end eventually right?

I'm just wondering if you had to guess.. what do you think will ultimately cause the end of the world?

I know it's a weird thread but I just got done reading some World War III theories on another board lol..

The stuff interests me.

I would say an asteroid hitting the earth. WW3 would prob be second though. I think WW3 would most likely wipe out alot of people but still have a very small amount that would survive.

I think we will eliminate ourselves as a human race long before the earth itself actually ceases functioning. The earth was around for millions of years before humans come along, and I am sure it will be along for much, much longer.

As for the elimation of the human race, I'm tempted to say due to our own ignorance. Perhaps some sort of nuclear bomb. Although I'm leaning towards more of an enormous plague.

Honestly not sure when it ends or how it does. My best guess would a large series of events like hurricanes, floods, diseases, and other shit that'll wipe us out.

DAMMIT! That's exactly what I was going to say. Earth and other Animals will continue on without problem, but due to our dependence on anti-biotics, and sanitary cleansers, there will eventually become a virus that mutates so quickly that it will eliminate the human race.

One question remains though - will it be man made?

Hmm.. Yeah, I definitely should have worded this differently. I'm more interested in what will happen to the human race then what the animals/plants will be doing after we're gone. lol.

We'll ultimately cause our own destruction IMHO, whether its through the inadvertant creation of superbugs which are immune to our antbiotics or by stuffing up this planet so much, that it gets its own back by wiping us out in some huge weather phemonenom.

Theres a lot of talk about a volcano in the Atlantic, on the Canary Islands - we studied it at uni. When that erupts, its so unstable that the whole side of the island will collapse into the sea, creating a huge tidal wave that will sweep across the Atlantic and flood areas of America and Europe. The scary thing about it is, this is entirely possible in our lfetimes. They dont thnk it wll happen for another 100 years or so, but theyre not ruling out the possibility of a sooner eruption.
