Romance is Dead??

Is it?

Noone seems to even consider doing anything romantic these days, granted i dont have anyone to do these things for me personally, but even my friends in relationships complain their partners never do anything for them anymore. I think we dont need it, not at all, but it would be nice every now and again.

Do you think its something that's solely for females or would you males like some too?

Even when someone has a crush on you, they dont do anything about it these days. No valentines cards from secret admirers - nothing! Seriously, how do they expect to get the girl??

Any thoughts?

Men never grow up, they just grow older.

Hummm I dunno.

There's this girl I like, and we always make little cards/messages for each other. And sometimes buy each other small gifts. It's just a pitty I can't oust her boyfriend!

This is the problem with women. You don't need it but its nice every now and then? Grey areas are where things fuck up.

I tried like hell to be romantic but its hard when she wants to be a teenager again and just go out clubbing.

Re: Romance is Dead??

I picked a good 'un :p We always buy presents for each other and I write him a letter every few weeks even though I see him every weekend. It's probably because we don't see each other every day though that we're still all romantic and sickening.

Re: Romance is Dead??

I guess we are a dying breed then.

I am a hopeless romantic.

My wife says she is still surprised that after four years of marriage I am still this way.

In my opinion romance keeps the relationship fresh and special if you keep it alive over the years.

So in short I really don't know why more people aren't into it other than we live in an instant gratification society now. Every body wants it all and they want it with as little effort as possible.

Pfft.

Re: Romance is Dead??

Of course it isn't dead... and I do think that it is needed to keep any relationship fresh and interesting. I know that without it my marriage would seem more like a roommate with benefits situation. I still feel like it is there if you put yourself with the right person. I do think that a lot of media today makes it seem dead... but I know that it isn't completely because my wife and I share a lot of romance between us.

Re: Romance is Dead??

I like to think I'm a pretty romantic guy, and my wife agrees. She still tells the story of how I proposed to all her girlfriends, lol.

But another thing she says is that "it's the little things that count". Don't get me wrong...she likes it when I surprise her by having dinner cooked and laid out all nice on the table when she comes home, and buying roses on "just another day", etc. However, she says when I do things like walk up to her at a party and just give her a kiss, or turn down spending time with my friends to lay on the couch and watch tv with her...those are the most romantic things I can do, in her mind.

So I try to be romantic when I can, I know she appreciates it and I enjoy seeing her smile.

Okay, enough mushy stuff. Let's talk about sports, weapons, or lawnmowers now.

And now, here it is...your moment of Carlin (10/10/2008)

I don't think we should be governing ourselves. What we need is a king, and every now and then if the king's not doing a good job, we kill him.

Re: Romance is Dead??

To me the most lovely thing a guy can do is cover you both with a blanket whilst you're watching telly. I don't know why. I'm easily pleased. Half Boy's got it well easy
