Who would have won in a fight and why???

Depends which Greeks were fighting and what kind of battle, if it was a land battle and the spartans were fighting they'd kick everyones ass, sea battle with athens it woudl be close against the vikings.

But the romans also have the superior numbers and very good training and have people from all lands in their army which could help in any kind of battle ...

So I gotta go with the Romans on land because Sparta doesn't have the numbers since the Romans are way better trained than the Persians Romans would win that and Athens would win any sea battle as long as there are no strange bed fellows on sparta's part...

The Egyptians. They are bordered by miles and miles of desert. Everyone else would die before they even got close to them. They would win by default.

What Roman period are we discussing here? Republic Rome or the Roman Empire? The Roman Empire would probably dominate, because it was just so large, and like SuffySells mentioned, has the population that it could just keep sending troops till the enemy collapsed. Then it would take over, and assimilate their values upon the area. That will teach them not to mess with Rome.

Depends Erin on Egyptians if Romans or Athens could find an egyptian get him to give them the lay of the land and find out about nile get their and since lots of the egyptians farmers are near the nile for obvious reasons they could easily capture those guy and get them to teach them how to survive and where to go and then bam!

It all really depends; The Greeks and The Romans are the clear leaders though. The Romans, under Augustus was an absolutely dominant civilization. They won with just shear numbers, but they had outstanding technology, outstanding defense mechanisms, and they had the infrastructure to support a war. They were able to replenish their soldiers much easier than their enemies which made them particularly successful.

Greece however was quite the power house too though, just at a different time. While I don't think they ever had the numbers or the organization that Rome had, they were able to defend themselves quite well.

I would take the organization, and military tacts of Augustus over anyone though ... except for maybe George McClelland. Give me McClelland planning things out with my boy Ulysses S. Grant in the battle field directing it, and it'd be unstoppable.
