Cancelling subscriptions is a pain in the ass. I sometimes sign up to shit without paying attention to only realize a little later that I in fact signed up to sites. That in itself is my fault, but after that step calling up people to cancel is hellish. I signed up to true.com cause some dude said there were some hot chicks out there, and I should atleast check it out. Thats fine. Thinking to myself oh it will probably be lke 10 bucks a month or something who cares.

a month goes by, look at my account. 78 bucks in charges. 50 just for the account, and they added 3 different add-on options i didnt sign up for on top of the normal subscription.

Also when I tried to cancel online it kept coming up to a blank page. I was like okay maybe its my computer. I go to tech support try to email them, and write it out, put the reason as cancelling, and what do you know theres a missing button.

They say oh we try to answer your question to avoid going to tech support, but if you really want to send it just click send email. Only thing is theres no send email button lol. It's like okay haha. So I have to send it as option other. On the bottom it says before you send it make sure theres no questions about cancelling accounts we cannot handle those. HMM..

So at this point I'm getting a little mad. I dont mind being charged 78 bucks, cause honestly I should have paid attention to that. I just want to make sure next month its not another 78 bucks.

So now I call the number the lady answers with how can I help you find love today. I say I'd like to cancel my account. She says why sir how can I change your mind. I say nah I'd just like to cancel it thanks. At this point she gets my info. Well sir I'm willing to give you a free month if you stick with true.com. No thats okay I'd just like to totally cancel it. Sir thats a great deal no paying until atleast march 15th. That is fine, thanks. Well let me ask you sir why is the reason you are cancelling.

At this point I'm getting pretty pissed, but not enough to snap on her. I calmly say I've asked you several times already just cancel my account. I dont want to pay the bill anymore end of subject. She says okay, and I say is it cancelled, because what should have been a simple task, is turning into a project. She says well sir, and I go is it cancelled? She says yes. I go that is all I wanted to know thanks, have a good day.

Ya, it is always smart to read the sign up page and T&C before you join anything. My guess is that the cancel forum isn't suppose to work so you will have to call and do it on the phone so they have a chance to change your mind.

Next time you have to cancel something on the phone, just say, Hi, I want to cancel because I have a STD and can't afford it anymore and I don't want any offer or discount thanks. lol

to actually find the prices on that site was hard I think. I could be wrong though...

On some of those sites where they get you is they will say $19.99 a month for three months. Then they take the whole thing out at once when you think you are going to pay it monthly.

Well they are still in business so it must be written on the site somewhere. To be honest, if you assume, then it really is just on you that it happened unfortunately.

I signed up for true, only because there was this promotion where you could get a free 2000 Wii Points card for signing up (it's legit, they did a similar promotion with Xbox Live Marketplace Points cards last year). It is a pain in he ass to call and cancel, not as bad as trying to cancel an AOL account though.

Another huge one was Cingular. I got a phone with a rebate they were supposed to send in the mail. They never did called them up, and was put on hold for an hour. Then got transfered atleast 10 times, and hung up on at the end. Had to call back and go through the same thing. Was not happy that day...

I had a similiar experience while trying to cancel AOL. These people dont seem to understand what the fuck "CANCEL THE ACCOUNT" means. I voice recorded it because I knew it would be a hassle. You can listen to it here. It's ridiculous.
