Ok, so I live with this super crazy girl I used to be really good friends with, but she went crazy. No one likes her, no one has ever called the house to speak with her, and she has never gone out once the entire year. That's not to say we haven't tried to reach out for her, she is just a bitch who thinks the whole world is against her.

She recently started smoking in the house in the past few weeks. I told her at the start of the year she couldn't. For one, I am allergic to smoke, and get really bad throat infections. I woke up coughing up blood this morning. Secondly, I used to have cancer, which has a really high chance at coming back, and the doctors basically forbid me from being around second hand smoke.

I have asked her twice to stop. It's beginning to become a health issue though. Her room is right below mine, and my room smells like smoke all the time, and it makes it hard for me to breathe at night because my throat swells so bad. She tells me to fuck off, then locks herself in her room when I confront her. There is no reason she can't do it outside, or in her car.

I am considering contacting my landlord. One of my friends is moving into that room next year (when crazy moves out), and won't want it smelling like smoke. Is there anything I can do at this point? Other than be a huge bitch back. Or sue her for assault or something. I hate her sooo much.

I would tell her to stop or you are going to tell the landlord. If she knows about the reasons why you don't want her smoking and she still does so, that is probably not going to stop her.

Is there a rule about the building being smoke free? If so the landlord could find her in violation of the lease or something and make her move out.

That is about the only options that I can think of right off the top of my head.

I hope this situation is resolved soon for you though.

I went down now to try and talk to her, competly nicely, and she wouldn't open her door, and wouldn't answer me. Her light was on I said, "I know you're in there, I can see your feet."

And she flipped, and was screaming at me through the door.... "FUCK YOU!!! I don't want to talk to you!" and I'm like, "we need to talk this through though, you know it isn't fair and you're avoiding the situation. She says "I HATE YOU SO MUCH YOU BITCH." I say, "I really don't care, as long as you stop." and she responded "I did already, I'm not doing it now OK?!?!? "

So... I guess maybe she will stop. But probably not. Mature much? This is the same girl who blogs about me all the time, talking about how much she hates me because apparently I'm such a stereotype, because I'm pretty, have lots of friends, am smart, and am a generally happy person. Apparently she hates "living with a teen sitcom character".

I apoligise for having a life. It's not my fault you do not have a single friend. I tried being nice to you!

As others have said, tell the landlord, you've given her her chances.

Though she does deserve kudos for the "living with a teen sitcom character" line. Now I just think you're like that older daughter in "8 Simple Rules"!! Spoilt cow!!

Like Dak said, find out if the room is supposed to be a smoke-free room. Otherwise, I hate to say this but I would think the landlords hands are tied. If it's legal for her to smoke in that room by the landlords laws, TECHNICALLY she is allowed to. This is not to say she should do it because obviously that's unfair to you.

I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here, but I don't know how much the landlord is going to do for you, because all he cares about (probably) is getting a check every month..

I'd have to agree with Jayman. If there is no rule about the Smoking rule then the landlord isn't going to get involved.

Best bet it to get your dad to come round and threaten her. lol.

Yea if the landlord cant do anything, you can just buy one of those smoke filtration things that sucks all the smoke out of the room.

If it is a real health threat, you may be able to get a court order maybe, banning smoking in the apartment
