That is proper fucked up. Statutory rape is hardly a crime in my eyes. The girl was 15, so she obviously knew what she was doing. And the most fucked up thing is that if it was the other way around and the boy was 15 the girl would have gotten less than a slap on the wrist.

Men always get harsher punishments for sex crimes. Look at these teachers. Female teachers who have sex with male students get little more than a slap on the wrist while male teachers who have sex with femal students get years in jail.
Bigger Picture :- From a society point of view a really good way of bringing down STD's, teen pregnancy (yes I know it was a BJ but the deterrent is the same) and so on.
Take your pick, if you choose Number 1 vote Dem/Lab, 2 choose Rep/Con.
If this applied in all cases, I would have a lot of male friends in jail. That's not right at all.
There are criminals walking the streets who have done way worse things. Carla Homolka (along with her husband) raped, tortoured, and murdered 3 young girls. She is now walking free on the streets, after serving 12 years.
Justice was definitely not served in this case. That is way too harsh of a sentence.

Doing some research, I can't imagine that this penalty would be upheld. It would strictly fall under the 8th amendment (cruel and unusual punishment). Doing some research revealed that there actually has been a similar case like this already (Coker v. Georgia), however I'm no where near an attorney. Where's our large chested friend, Jackie at when we need her?
Obviously this needs to be challenged. I could understand some punishment, but 10 years is just ridiculous.
