Rep Power: 94 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Queen is Dead Well of course she isn't really. Her Mother lived to be over 100 and she's in fine form herself, but what's your take on what happens when she pops the mortal coil? Should Charles take over still in the natural swing of things? I mean, he's currently 58. If she lives (as she could for another 15 years) we could have had many many years of an old monarch followed by the guy taking over being 73!! Should Charlie-boy pass the reigns on to his son when that time comes and allow a more vibrant youthful monarchy to have a chance? Do you give a crap? I don't really, I'm just passing time! Seriously though, I would prefer his son William take it over if the Queen goes on much longer. I don't think it would happen though. I guess this is really just for the UK and Commonwealth posters really, so those Stateside can go back to your Taco Bell (love you!!)

If this is even partly true it would explain why she would never give up the throne.

It will be up to him to decide if he wants to take it or not. He may take it, so that William can actually have a life for a little while. I don't see William being in a huge rush to become King. Let him live his life for a little while before taking it.

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | The UK should jump into the 21st century and get a democracy. Get rid of the monarchy and elect a president. Of coarse this won't happen, just like the UK is slow in adopting the Euro. |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Yes, I know that the monarch is basically a figurehead and that the PM is basically the head of the government. I am just saying that those folks in the UK should switch from a constitutional monarchy to some form of actual democracy (and all the countries in the commonwealth should stop having the UK's king/queen be considered the leader of your country). |

Rep Power: 22 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Why though? Canada's head of state is the Queen, and never once has there been a problem. The Queen swears in the PM of her commonwealth, and then that's where it ends. She doesen't step in from there. England loves their royal family, they embrace them. They do wonderful things for charity. Why get rid of something that so many seem to love?

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Clones of USA? No. There are many other countries that have democratic/republic goverments: Russia, Italy, France, Germany, South Korea. To be honest, I don't care less what type of goverment other countries use. I just thought they should maybe consider electing the leader of the country rather than have someone just inherit that role (even if they are basically just a figurehead now). |
