They do elect the leader. Tony Blair was elected. As were all of Britian's PM's before him since around the 1700's.

The Queen isn't the leader. The Prime Minister is. He acts as the head of Her Majesty's Government.

What does she do exactly? I'm not saying England should change anything, just wondering what her role is and if she has any stroke... Who has more power basically, her or blair?

Basically, the king/queen is the head of state for the UK and 15 other countries (Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Granada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, St. Kitts and Nevice, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, and Tuvalu). The PM is the head of goverment and basically has all the power while the monarch is just a figurehead (like Japan's Emperor).

I'm not an expert here, I'm sure there are others on the board that can answer this far better than I can.

I believe that on paper, she does. But of course if she ever tried to step in for no reason to stop something, it would not go over well. She is an ambassador for the country. She also does a lot of advising, she is quite brilliant and knows a lot about foreign affairs and the like.

The Queen's only real power is that she has the final veto on any bills that are passed through the government, I believe, but I can't ever recall a time when it's been used. Mostly they are their to represent Britain. Which unfortunately, when it comes to knob jockeys like Prince Andrew, that means forcing the tax payers to pay for his love of golf.

at this point in time i get a lot of dollars for my pound.. why? because the dollar is weak. i bought my dollars for when i goto chicago at 1.91usd to the £1. happy days...
