Someone explain rape/molestation Sentences to me

Okay there is this guy in my town in 1991 he raped an eight year old boy over the course of several years. So ya he raped the boy countless times, he finally got caught, and he served 3 years total. Yes I said 3 years. How the fuck does that work in this society? Does anyone find this odd. Anyway, the guy got out, and just recently got arrested again for doing the same exact thing.

Now to my next question. I knew a kid from high school, he got arrested for selling drugs, and got sentenced to 5-10 years. So you are telling me this other guy gets out in 3 years for raping a kid, and this kid I went to high school with will get out in 5 for good behavior. Fucking insane

Yes, there are a lot of states that have awful senetences when dealing with these cases, and I think it goes back before we knew exactly what kind of damage a thing like this could have on a child.

Of course we knew it was sick and disgusting, but probably not to the extent we know now.

The drug laws have probably been changed many times over the years, so now we have rediculous things like you've just described.

Like it or not, drug cases affect the government far more then rape cases, so of course they are going to make sure they help themselves on those issues before they help anyone else.

The country is fucked for many reasons and this is just one of them.

If it were up to me, the fucker would never get out. Fuck rehabiliation, he'd rot in a cell or get the lethal injection.

and before anyone else replies i think the kid i went to school with diserves the sentence. I was just its insane rape should atleast be equal to drug charges

I don't really care because I will never be needing to know that information for any personal reasons. I don't try to put years to the crime. I would hate to be the person that has to do it too.

It's a good subject Nec, sorry I never feel able to add much to these, principally because I tend to feel castration is the only solution and then I get frustrated by people with very different views (e.g we need to educate them, they can still be worthwhile members of sociey, it's an illness, blah blah blah)

I think the whole prison system as a whole is nothing but a farce these days. Life should mean life, not ten years. If you're sentenced to 20 years, that's what you serve, not 10. There were some stats in the paper the other day that said last year in Britain, something like 96 people were killed and hundreds more injured by prisoners who had been released early from their sentence.

Speaking of odd prison sentences, what about vehicular homicide? Most of the time I hear people who kill someone by hitting them with a car getting 5 year sentence (or 15 at the most). So is killing someone by running them over less serious than stabbing or choking them to death?
