Speaking of odd prison sentences, what about vehicular homicide? Most of the time I hear people who kill someone by hitting them with a car getting 5 year sentence (or 15 at the most). So is killing someone by running them over less serious than stabbing or choking them to death?
It depends on if it can be proven that it was premeditated. Accidently hitting someone would more than likely just be manslaughter or involuntary murder which would be a much lesser charge that first degree murder.

All I know is that no one ever really gets a fair sentence, either too much for a stupid crime or too little for a serious one. As far as I remember, drug dealers and shit get more time than rapists around here.
