Rep Power: 76   | Pennance for slave trading On the radio this morning a Lady is looking for Financial compensation for those relatives of the vicims of Slave trading. In the UK, Slave trading was finally abolished 200 years ago in 1807. Tony Blair has apparently offered the appropriate words...as formal recognition that it was all wrong...but has stopped short of using the word "apology" as there is a risk that this is admittance and thus start a wave of litigation. Now don't get me wrong ...Slave trade was abhorrent, awful and an embarrassment to my country.....but this kind of threat to sue Governments for acts hundreds of years ago is just unbelievable, ...where does it stop? Can I sue Norway or Denmark (I forget) over the acts of rape, pillage and slaughter that their Viking ancestors caused to my people and land? Can I sue the Italians....those Roman's may have built our roads, but if there is compensation in conquering or slavery then we have our rights too don't we?? | |

Rep Power: 71 | Well, you know how I feel on this topic lol. The casinos are enough, and to be honest, I'm not even happy with that.. but that's a whole thread in itself. I agree, I can't stand most things government but this gets a little rediculous after a while. Please, we didn't have anything to do with it! I'm sorry, I truly am.. The thing that kills me is how people in America don't understand that there were more white slaves then anyone.. Where's my compensation? | |
