Christmas Lights
Driving home last night I couldn't help but notice one house, about two miles before I get home, that had it's full Christmas lights up already....on November 19th???
Now I'm all for lovin' that time of year, but isn't this too early, isn't this premature lighting?
Yours sincererly,
E Scrooge

Yeah MGM/Disney had the full-on Osborne christmas lights and christmas parade while I was there last wednesday. It's fucked up in the middle of Nov and its fucked up at 87 degrees when fake snow is used!!!
Yeah, it is definitely too early to start with the Christmas cheer. Bah-humbug!!!! There is a local radio station here that starts playing 24/7 Christmas music on November 1!!! I honestly believe that in 10-20 years Christmas season will full out begin the day after Halloween. They should just move the Thanksgiving parade to Halloween night, right after trick-or-treating starts. Then we'll have 2 full months of the Christmas season.
It's only for 45 days out of 365. I mean come on, what is the big deal. I don't get why people even bother to get all riled up just because others enjoy Christmas.

To me, it just seems like such a waste. We only put our Christmas lights up about a week before the day, so to me, I know it's almost Christmas when the tree's up. And at the point, I start getting excited. If it went up in November, I'd be sick of it all by the time it got to Dec 25th.

I guess maybe it does just go back to your childhood. When I was younger, the tree went up at the same time it did now, so I knew there was always just one week to go when I was but a bairn. Now it's familiarity is what keeps the excitement going, I guess.
