Going to the cinema

So, have you ever been to the cinema on your own before? I have. I had to go and see all three Lord of the Rings movies on my own because wife and kiddies wouldn't watch them and I was very keen to. I didn't think anything of it really, probably because the theatre was mad full so it didn't feel like I was by myself (not that I'm ever truly alone...I do have "the voices").

So is that incredibly sad? Have you ever done it? Would you stone me if you saw me walking down the street?

My friend did it last week when she went to see Devil Wears Prada. I'd do it if I really wanted to see a film that no-one else wanted to. I'd make a great date. Plus the sex would be brilliant afterwards.

I have never been to the movies by myself but I don't really see anything pathetic about it.

I went to see The Two Towers by myself, and I cant remember why. i went during the day when it wasnt too busy. In fact, i think there was only me and 2 little old grannies in there. I enjoyed it, was nice not always having to make conversation. I dont make a habit of it, but I would do it again.

Men never grow up, they just grow older.

I like going to the movies by myself. You don't have to worry about making comments afterwards or giving your opinion of what you thought of it.

And lets face it, we all have movies we might go see that our friends or significant other might not want to go see.

I used to do it all the time on my days off during work because it was that much quieter than at night or during term time.

Don't see it as odd or anything like that.

Nope, never done it, probably never will. If I want to see a movie, chances are there's someone I know that will see it with me. If not, I'll drag the wife to see it with me. That's how I roll.

And now, here it is...your moment of Carlin (10/13/2008)

Anything but the Present

America has no now. We're reluctant to acknowledge the present. It's too embarrassing.

Instead, we reach into the past. Our culture is composed of sequels, reruns, remakes, revivals, reissues, rereleases, re-creations, reenactments, adaptations, anniversaries, memorabilia, oldies radio, and nostalgia record collections. World War II has been refought on television so many times, the Germans and Japanese are now drawing residuals.

Of course, being essentially out of shit, we sometiems feel the need to dress up this past preoccupation, as with pathetic references to reruns as "encore presentations".
