I give some money now and again - but only to well known charities. I don't give any to homeless people because I'm never too sure who's genuine or who's fake.
Personally, I always give to the ones that merely only have a cup held out. I stay away from the ones with signs and the con artists that try to talk you into giving them money.
One time while I was on campus, I actually had a guy come up to me and try to be smooth and talk about his "beautiful" wife, showed her off to me and talking about how they could use some spare change.
And they were holding bags of Wendy's. Some people.
When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fullfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and be taken as prisoners to all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
...At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.
Luke 21:20-28
I don't do much as far as giving money, however, I do give lots of clothes away and that's better then money.. That shit's expensive, so quit your bitchin!
Australia has one of the better Social Welfare systems in the world, probably the best. Therefore in my country, there really is no excuse to be homeless for a long period of time. As cruel as it sounds, they need to learnt o go to the right avenues to get assistance.
With charities, i donate here and there, but i understand the farce of donating to charities. Unless you've personally had experience with what the charity deals with (whether it be family of friends) 90% of the time, you only donate to make ureself feel good about your own self. More power to the 10% out there who are turly good people though.
I wish my sex life was like ECW, first you get a One Night Stand followed by 2 months of nostalgic orgasms and then 6 months of constant sucking.
I work for a company that deals with millions of pounds going to charities, and I make a small monthly donation. 37 makes a good point though - most people donate to feel good. That's partly my reason.. but I kinda see how much of a difference a little bit of money makes, so I do try to help. Even though I could help a lot more than I do.

I donated to a charity after the tsunami and all they did afterwards is send me stuff asking me to donate more. I don't want to donate more, stop sending me fucking requests.
I don't think i'll donate anymore if that's how it is gonna be.
