The Internet is Beginning to Scare Me...

Why you ask?!

Its just the blogs, mainly. Myspace, bebo, msnspace, faceparty, etc, theres something about it, I dont know exactly what it is, that kinda frightens me.

Maybe its because perfect strangers can see through every detail of your life, its all there, everything you like, and all your friends too can easily be found at a click. They can invade your life and stalk you and you wont even know about it.

Is the fact that we all now have the easy opportunity to immortalise ourselves in a biographical nature on the internet, a cool thing?

I dont think its cool. It just, aint cool.

Give it time

The thing that scares me are these little net whores who show pics are themselves half naked to billions of people just for attention.. That's when all the shit goes down.

Parents need to stop letting their daughters sit on the computer 24 hours a day and be more active in their lives.

Also, if these 16 or 17-year old girls would just give it up to the guys at their school they'd get enough attention from that, wouldn't need the pervs on the net.

Yes but for some 16 year olds its the only place they have confidence to speak up and post some pictures and they need the compliments to build their self esteem in the real world. I dont believe kids should be sat at the computer 24hrs a day, But have you forgotten how many posts u have blitz ? and how many hours i have been on here.. Most of us are on the internet most of the time too.

The thing that is kind of scary to me about the Internet is, kind of like what Reilly said, how transparent everything is.

I hate that I can put any of my ex-girlfriends in a search engine and get a bunch of information about them. Or can read their "blogs" and hear every friggin' detail about their sex life.

I don't get why people do this. Doesn't anyone value privacy?

I hear what you're saying Gemma but I just can't see anything good comign from a young girl posting these pictures.. If it was just a 16-year old boy looking at them it'd be one thing.. He tells her she looks cute or sexy and she feels good about herself but more often the not they probably end up with 40-year old pervs harassing them..

I understand that I spend a lot of time on the net, but when I was in high school I didn't.. It's mostly about my personal schedule now.. I have classes early in the morning, then more at night, online before I go into work, or when my girl isn't around..

High schoolers IMO anyway, should not come home from school sit on the PC, and the do it all over again.. They need more interaction outside of the school setting. Just my opinion though.. Please don't hate me

I would never hate you !
And I totally get what you are saying ! Some pictures are bad , and its even worse when you got 14 yr old girls pretending to be 16, All the male attention caa be a bad thing too. I was jus talking abt not the so extreme cases. And i agree abt the time on the net. Although I spend alot of time on it now, when I was 16, I was outside with friends mostly causing trouble!

Im not really as concerned about 16 or 14 year olds, I mean thats just a temporary problem that they will grow out of. I think its always been acknowledged how scary it is that they could meet up with a 40 year old pervert.

What I am actually concerned about is something I'm unsure of, Im not completely certain what it is but its a different kind of frightening then paedophilia.

Yeah along the lines of what I'm scared of. People just throwing out their every thought onto the internet where anyone can read it.

And actually its not the strangers that most worry's me, theres not much someone from Alabama can make of someone's blog from my hometown, it doesnt seem harmful. Its the people who kindof know the person, to see, barely knowing them at all.

They are then given a world of knowledge about someone they dont actually know in real life, and thats just kindof scary.

I still dont know what it is, maybe its just a simple privacy issue, but something about it is still screwing with my head a little.

Give it time

all you have to do is a search on myspace or one of these things for your hometown and you can find out what girls are slutty before you even approach them.

Once again I have no idea what that has to do with what I wrote!

Or maybe you were replying to someone else.
