I was spanked a few times growing up.

It seems to me that there's no real reason to ever put physical violence on a child. It's pretty archaic (and laughable) to think that would ever have a serious effect. Jesus Christ, read a fucking book.

However, if the kid is just insane or does something dangerous (jumps onto a busy street, for example) a short ass whoopin' is most likely in order.
