Truckers Claim Rest Stops Too Far Apart

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Crews doing spring cleaning along Ohio roads are complaining about a disgusting category of trash known as "trucker bombs."

Those are plastic bottles of urine that are tossed out by truckers who don't want to pull over to a rest area when nature calls.

One Ohio Department of Transportation worker said when you encounter a trucker bomb, you end up reeking.

Some truckers defend the practice, saying rest stops are too far apart.

The problem has become big enough that one state senator has introduced a "human waste" bill that would impose a $1,000 fine on anyone dumping potentially hazardous litter. Repeat violators would face bigger fines and the possible suspension of their licenses.
