Something that makes me curious

I've filled my fish tank that decorates my downstairs living room about 4 times since I've had it. The first time, most of my fish died right away due to some ich disease. 2nd time, same result. 3rd time they died for some reason, and now I just filled it last week and there are a few fish on the verge of dying.

Something tells me something is fucked up with my water. Agree?

Do you have some kind of cleaning system in the tank to filter the water?

What kind of tank(fresh or salt), how big, what kind of fish, how often are your changing the water, how often are you checking the ph and nitrate level, how often are you feeding them?

All of those questions play a factor.

I have a salt water tank and the two fish we had died after 3 weeks. These next fish are way cheaper and have been a live three times as long. Make sure you get a nitrate tester, that is the overall killer of fish.

Let me know what other info you need. I have had a fish tank since Dec and it seems to be doing pretty well.

Yeah, I have one under water filter, and then the usual filters systems that are on the top.

It's a 40 gallon fresh water tank, with 2 sharks, and 5 Cichlids. They get a mixture of the cichlid pellets & flakes. They eat at the same time I do; 8AM & 7PM.

Water get's changed maybe every 6 months or so, along with the stuff at the bottom. I just had the water tested at Pet Smart, and they gave me a few things to try. Overall, there is a Ichthyopthirius multifiliis, and a fungal rot that the cichlid had in the tank.

Overall though, it just makes me curious. Sure, it could be from the fish, but it's pretty coincidental that everytime I had water to the tank diseases pop up. Keep in mind I have a well water system though, I don't have the chlorinated city water.
