... I mean, not in a really bad way, but it's weird.

Tonight, my 47-year-old single mother told me she's four months pregnant with twins via anonymous donor, that she's been "trying" for two years now, that she miscarried a little over a year ago, and that she's due during the week of my birthday (which, for the last three years, I've spent camping on Hornby Island). Okay Ma, way to keep me in the loop!

I don't really know what to think. She'll have them at the beginning of August, then I'll out at the end of the month.

My dad, who is remarried and lives on the other side of the country, had a boy in April 2004, Elijah, whom I absolutely love and think is the most perfect kid in the entire world. So that bodes well.

I just don't know what to think.

First things first, congrats to your Ma Freakster and I've got my fingers crossed for her that everything goes well this time, since the last time out must have been pretty bad, especially being that she couldn't discuss it openly.

I'm guessing she's kept you out of "the loop" so as not to have to tell you if it went wrong again. Statistically she's more likely to go full term now she's four months gone. She wouldn't have wanted to upset you unnecesarily I'm sure and it's a "parent" thing to want to avoid telling you stuff that may shake you up a little until it's unavoidable.

As for you don't really know what to think, well aside from "what does it matter what you think, you're a grown man now and she's a grown woman so get over youself!!" I don't know what to say (joking!).

Just be what I'm sure you've always been, a good son, and she'll then have everything she wants, and that in itself is your role in things!!
