How important do you think education is? Is it a good way to judge a man?
Second question, feel free to answer, how important do you think having a college education is in this world?
How many people do you know who have a college education but work at Walmart as a janitor and stuff? Isn't that sad? Of course, there's plenty of college graduates who do well. Then on the flip side there's a lot of college drop-outs and never-has-beens who are doing fantastic. So what is it?
I mean, I guess it depends entirely on the individual and there's no one true path (Hinduism) to the goal. But what seems to work best on average?
I've often heard it said that an ambitious college graduate will most likely be stuck in middle class while an ambitious high school graduate can easily become a millionaire. Is this a true statement?

As you said, everyone is different. Some people are happy working 9-5 in a factory or phone company . But others have ambition, be it ambition to go to university or to find another way to make money. To me education is important but not nessassarily a priority. People can be interesting and good people no matter what they have done sometimes hands on experience is much more important than learning how to write reports and 'refrence' .
everyone is different 'intelligent' people dont need a degree to proove it.
most millionairres never got a degree, they jus have plenty of ambition or luck!

Of course a college degree is not necessary to become successful, but it certainly helps. In today's world it is almost a necessity.

I don't htink it is that important. I'll be doing decent once I max out and I didn't get a degree. Plus if you look at all the loans you'll end up paying back I don't think its worth it.

Thing is, intelligence can be judged on so many different levels.
Like you get these people who are very very smart, but they lack common sense.
I hear what your saying. I think its either your book smart or street smart. People that are street smart can make it in the world. I don't see the point in goin to an expensive ass school and takin out loans to pay for it. Cuz then when your done you'll be workin the next 10 years and paying that shit off then before you know it youll be in your mid 30's and wont have shit.

Studies have shown that college educated people earn more on average than non college educated. Like they needed a study to prove that.
The main advantage to education is you get to do a job that's more likely to be enjoyable, and with less supervision. Most of the professionals I know can come and go to their jobs as they please, as long as they get all the work done. There's none of this be here at 8:30am and leave at 5pm, lunch is from 12-1 sorta bullshit.
Also, depending on your degree, it gives you a meal ticket. A qualified Engineer will always find work, anywhere in the world. He will always have a job waiting for him. If you're job involves very little training, you're expendable. There's always an illegal immigrant who will do the same shit cheaper than you.
Those who make big money without college or trades behind them usually come from the right family backgrounds or are exceptionally confident people. On top of that they're often working 12+ hours a day, especially if they're running their own business.
I would never run my own business. That is way too much work for me. I don't mind being told when to work because I pick what shift I want to do every 3 months.. At my job I have no supervision either.
