I'm sick of seeing the Tookie thread. About forty minutes ago a good friend of mine, extremely liberal, sent me an instant message asking me what I thought of this "crips guy that they put to death."

It's a strange argument because it often turns into a pure liberal vs. conservative battle. This is why ideology is scary. People then, from this point, begin to ignore basic facts and areas of logic because they feel the need to side with their agreed upon area of ideology. That's sad. How unscientific, how uninteresting. If you are going to look at the facts in such a biased and over emotional way then why even bother? If you are just going to feed me the Liberal or Conservative talking points why even waste time? Why not just direct me to the mouth of the source?

In cases where innocent men are being killed the death penalty is wrong. If there's any consideration that the man might be innocent the case shouldn't go to death row. However, we can't say that about Tookie. And that's the problem for those who defend him. You are getting yourself all worked up, all in a huff, over a case that was a lost cause at the very start.

If you are going to do a case defending dictators don't start with Saddam. That's my advice to you.

Finally, the death penalty is the ultimate way for someone to pay for their crimes. And isn't that the way it should be? Why should we place value on a persons life who has destroyed someone elses? Life isn't precious, it isn't a beautiful thing. Watch Animal Planet for more than 10 minutes and you'll figure that out. It's ugly, it's cruel, and nobody lives forever. Immortality shouldn't start with someone like Tookie, with someone on death row. It should start with the victims. The innocent. The ones who have not been tried (more than once) for a capital crime. At the very least justice should live on.

I agree. Couldn't have said it better myself. I don't see how people would want someone to live when they've killed 4 other people. The people he killed didnt' have a second chance to live so why should this ****sucker be allowed to continue to live.

Its so hard to talking to people here on this Open Forum. I can never take you guys seriously especially about subjects like this. Its funny how somebody that lives in Pleasentville could know so much about the hood and so much about the world. Its a good example of a smart people who found out how ignorant they are, they get offended.

I dont really have aside. As I said in the other thread I support both sides. But the fact you said, " If Cookie dies, just eat some fries" and " I didnt know hood have the internet" just lets me know how ignorant some people can be.

Wait, one side supports him being executed and the other supprted him not being executed, so how can you support both sides? Maybe you meant that you can understand what each side is saying.
