Rep Power: 61 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | RIP Pat Morita Mr. Miyagi aka Pat Morita died today at age 73 of natural causes. He was best known for the Karate Kid movies and as Arnold from Happy Days. If you have not heard the history of this man's life or seen any of the films he appeared in you truly missed a great person and a great actor. Born in California in 1932, Morita left behind a wife of 12 years and three daughters from a previous marriage. ![]()

The 73-year-old died at his home in Las Vegas on Thursday of natural causes, his wife Evelyn said. Born in California to immigrant fruit pickers, he was among the thousands of Japanese-Americans sent to internment camps during World War II. Morita, who began his career as a comic, rose to fame in TV's Happy Days. Sequel appearances But it was the role in 1984's Karate Kid that would define Morita's career. The part of a quiet caretaker who takes a bullied teenager under his wing to teach him martial arts was much spoofed in the years that followed. Morita appeared in the film's three sequels, including 1994's the Next Karate Kid opposite a young Hilary Swank. His other roles included Honeymoon in Vegas, Spy Hard, and Even Cowgirls get the Blues. Very Sad :frown2:

I disagree. 73 is a decent age to live to. Just think having to work with Ralph Macchio most likely took 10 years off his life. I will do jumping jacks if I live till 73

Rep Power: 15 ![]() | He was great in the Karate Kid films(even the horrible "The Next Karate Kid") and Happy Days, and I will miss him. At least he dies of natural causes though so didn't die painfully. Rest In Peace Mr. Miyagi/Arnold/Pat Morita. |

Rep Power: 19 ![]() | You'll miss him TJ? It always strikes me as comedic how people react to the death of a celebrity. You woulda thunk that Jesus came down and died again or something. I remember when Mother Teresa died, just a little bit after Princess Di and how the reaction was. There was no reaction. Why? Because Princess Di just died and that was really serious news. For fuck sakes, one woman gives her life to charity and another one was just a whore. Yet Di gets all this special treatment...people crying, celebrities singing songs for her and giving money to her goofy ass charities, etc. It's sad when anyone dies, much sadder when someone actually done something for humanity like Mother Teresa, but I don't get the special attention a celebrity gets. |
