The policy was the subject of a trial in w/ my stupid state, By JODI WILGOREN Published: The standards move beyond the broad mandate for critical analysis of evolution that four other states have established in recent years, by recommending that schools teach specific points that doubters of evolution use to undermine its primacy in science education. Among the most controversial changes was a redefinition of science itself, so that it would not be explicitly limited to natural explanations. The vote was a watershed victory for the emerging movement of intelligent design, which posits that nature alone cannot explain life's complexity. John G. West of the Discovery Institute, a conservative research organization that promotes intelligent design, said The vote came six years after So Pennsylvania gets rid of ID, and just a few years after KS got rid of the dickheads who tried to ban evolution here, we vote ID right back in. The only good thing is the standards are not mandatory but they will do state tests. And this doesn’t start till 2007, so maybe we can vote these new whackjobs off the board in the 2006 election.

Rep Power: 15 ![]() | What the hell is John West talking about? ID makes as much sense as fairy tales, IMO Kansas took a step backwards in science standards. I also read that now when schools talk about evolution in Kansas they also have to mention how it might be incorrect. :alien1: |

Rep Power: 15 ![]() | What evidence Dak? No respected scientist believes in ID and the only people supporting the idea are realigious zealots who won't stop untill everything believes that everything was created by a "god" rather than evolving like we have evidence of. |

Rep Power: 56 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well there are quite a few things such as artifacts and things like that with reference to Jesus dating way back. I do not pretend to be a specialist on this topic so I can't state specific items. My whole argument is not really based on this anyway. My argument is why to believe a scientist? Could the evidence not be maipulated by somone with an agenda? The possibility is there so I will never accept Evolution as being the truth. Why should I care what a scientist believes? They have been wrong before.

Rep Power: 19 ![]() | Dak, there's an overwhelming amount of evidence supporting evolution. There's been a handful of scientists who have created "scientific discoveries" but that shouldn't be overshadowed by the hundreds upon hundreds of real evidence that has been discovered. Fossils, anatomy, the way the contintents are located, the way flowers grow and survive, etc, etc, etc, etc. And religion has never been wrong? A lot of religious "fact" has been proven incorrect. Furthermore, there is no evidence linking Jesus and the history of man together. Not at all. |
