I've spent a fair whack of my time over the last few months refusing to settle for just anybody. I went on a couple of dates, and they were nothing spectacular, so I just left things as they were, but I've now just met someone who I really like, is super cute, and great fun to be around. But just my bloody luck, the girls 16 years old. Given, it's a legal age over here, but six years is just too big a deal for me. I will now engage in a little screaming. Thank you.

I don't mean the age difference in general, just such an age difference when you're both still so young- esp her.

where are you guys meeting these young girls anyways?
I remember when I was 16 and guys in their 20's would try to pick me up. I dated a couple of them, but I quickly realized that there was a reason girls their own age weren't dating them. no offense though, that's not all guys, just the 1st 2 I dated and after that I knew better and didn't want to take a chance. sure I could've met a great guy who happened to be 5 + years older than me, but there seemed to be too many jerks filling up the path.
(of course, I'm a jerk, so take that for what it's worth)
besides, girls that young would likely only be using you for some such purpose. whether it's the status symbol that is having an older boyfriend or for your car or apartment or ability to buy alchohol.
and they may seem cool and mature now, but wait till you start giving them the idea (whether you mean to or not) that you love them and then let the harsh hammer of truth come falling down. their immatureity will boggle you.

of course, women of all ages are like this so I guess don't let that deter you so much.
and if it's just for sex, well then, go for it. but be very careful. girls like to be in love, and that can make them scary.


(man, it seems hard trying to find a person you can be w/ and not end up hating them right quick. I almost forget how bad dating people and then finding I didn't like them at all was. I remember it sucked, but not much more.)

A lot of guys date younger chicks. It's a classic way to go at it, it's one of the formulas.

I think it's got just of a good of a chance to work as anything else, really.

Think of it this way Fieldy....in a couple years she'll very close to your maturity level (probably) and it won't be weird at all. Two years can go by fast. And if it doesn't last that long, then it doesn't last that long and who cares.

This is pretty much how I feel. I have no real problem with the age gap. It's all the things surronding it. I'm still young myself, but I know for damn sure that I'm looking for someone I can spend the rest of my life with. I scare myself just knowing that, but it's true. I've started back at school, and with a little luck, in five years I'll be in the profession I want to be in, and by that time I'd like to be able to settle down. I don't know if I could do that with someone so much younger than me.

Now i need a little advice.

I'm in a bit of a dilema. We have just moved downstairs at work and i'm sitting near one of my friends i did training with and i'm sure her friend is eyeing me up but i've been wrong about these things before. But i'm kind of sure just about everytime i look over she is either looking back or quickly moves her head back to her pc.
One of the problems is i don't know her name or her age or anything really. We have briefly spoken a couple of times and we always say hello when we walk past each other.

Now am i "Madd" or is there something there?

I see where you are coming from, friend. I would just think that if this is meant to be the two years will pass quickly and by time she's 18 there will be no thought placed into her age whatsoever.


Obviously you have to do what your little gas heart tells you to do, but you should consider all things before making your option known.
