It's no surprise that most celebrities these days are some of the more uneducated people of the world. Hey, if I had a choice between going to college or making movies, I'd be right with them.. However, when I see a celeb like 50 Cent talking about AIDS awareness, or somebody talking about the importance of reading, or somebody saying how smoking is bad for you, all I can think is "Why the hell should I listen to this person?" I really don't get it.. Shouldn't doctors, teachers, victims, etc. be the real spokepersons of these issues? Wouldn't it be more effective to listen to somebody that actually knows and understands the subject they are talking about? They asked Britney about 9/11.. It was funny as hell, but didn't help anyone. She's an idiot. So why do I always see this happening?

They hear other people say things and they take is as fact then they pass it on to their fans and the surprising thing is that most of their fans believe it. A lot of times it backfires on them though and they have absolutely 100% of a right to speak their mind but they need to realize that it can backfire on them. I can see some celebs speaking up around election time but their are still some celebs saying stuff and it is completely biased things and I think that it is completely irresponsible to tell their fans who not to vote for when the fans are for the most part below or borderline voter age and very impressionable. That is not the freedom of choice, that is someone telling others who to vote for and it is stupid.

When you're dealing with an issue such as smoking, aids, or the importance of reading, they're attempting to reach the younger user base, such as 8-14 year olds. Obviously the lower end is more for the reading, however smoking and sexual diseases could be targetted towards the upper end. Younger kids are easily influenced by society -- since most celebs dictate what is fashionable in society, and many people look up to them, they're the perfectly spokes people for the market. There's really no point towards targetting a market over the age of 17. I think pretty much everyone by that point in time is pretty well aware of the way the world is.

Obviously as the market changes, and the message that they're sending across a different spokesperson is chosen. I've never seen either of those two acting as a spokesperson though.

A lot of these kids are still very immature and easliy influenced.. I think it's time for society to teach them in other ways than "50 Cent says, 'wear a condom'" Maybe a real doctor or something.. Then they listen to 50's album where he's talking about having sex with anything and everyone and they get confused.. You might bring up the fact that parents should be keeping these kids away from this music, but parents aren't super-human.. Kid's parents who don't give a shit let their kids bring a 50 cent album to school and they let the other kids listen to it on the bus. So what.. they are supposed to listen to 50 when they see him as a spokesperson, but not listen to him when they hear his music? Parents should do a better job with their kids all the way around, but not everything is their fault.

Rep Power: 8 ![]() | Some pretty vague finger pointing going on here. During the last election, I remember Sarah Michelle Geller being interviewed in a magazine and she said she is strongly based on one political side, but wouldn't reveal what it was as it may effect people who were fans to vote that way. That is ok in an official interview with a magazine shoot, that's like putting out your opinions on the job. Celebrities are followed 24/7, and usually let something slip when their every word is recorded. Johnny Depp got in a bit of trouble with patriotic Americans because he said America was something like a 'Dumb puppy'. Among countlessly defending himself, he did come up with the inarguable point, that no-matter what he says it shouldn't be taken seriously because hes just an actor, not a politician. He's just a guy with an opinion like everyone else in the world, but his, and every other celebrities, opinions are propelled into being something larger. I dont know if a lot of people actually do listen to celebrities actual advice, but they do like to keep an eye on a celebrity and criticise them if they say something stupid. |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() ![]() | I listen to Sean Penn hes my hero Anyone seen Team America?? I think that sums up exactly how I feel about celebrities who run their mouth off. Sean Penn in Team America "Last year I went to Iraq. Before Team America showed up, it was a happy place. They had flowery meadows and rainbow skies, and rivers made of chocolate, where the children danced and laughed and played with gumdrop smiles." |
