As you may all be aware there is a lot of controversy concerning how the US has responded to Katrina (I will not get into this now), what do you think of this, I will post later.

I think the goverment is doing the best they can, people are complaining that the goverment isn't doing as much as they can but what they may not realize is that something like this has never happened before. Congress just passed an emergency $10.5 Billion spending bill to have out so maybe this will help silence the critics.

This was predicted about six years ago and widely circulated in every scientific magazine in the country. I know this Administration and many people on this board hate science and everything, but you are wrong if you think we were in the dark about what was going to happen.

We knew New Orleans was going to have serious problems and we knew hurricane Katrina was going to kill a lot of people.

FEMA and Bush are not bad people. However, they did a miserable job and it's just a point blank fact.

I'm not going to get into the whole, "all the troops were fighting in Iraq.." thing that's been going on. That argument doesn't make much sense to me.

However, like I've said.. there were people stranded just right outside of the Superdome on over ovepass and didn't get food or water for 5 days. I can just imagine what the people in more rural areas have gotten. Most likely nothing..

Bush handled this effort about as poorly as one could from the start.. I didn't even touch on the point that Miakal just brought up. This wasn't something that just came out of nowhere and surprised everyone. They've been talking about how New Orleans is a "Distaster Target" for years and nothing has been done about it.

It goes back even farther than just Bush's run. The federal gov. stopped providing money to N.O. to fix these problems a while back. They only had leviys that were built for a level 3 storm.. When this one hit it was at least a level 4, maybe 5 when it blew through. This was bound to happen.

You can't just toss 4 million meals and water for hundreds of thousands on to a back of a pick up and start handing things out.

To be honest, none of you have a clue what is going on or why other than what you hear people comment on. They are STILL rescuing people and there could be thousands dead.

I don't know what people are expecting to happen. It is not like they have ever had to deal with something like this before. Any examples you have won't be anywhere close to this.

Lets just say.. They couldn't have done a better job with the effort. I thought they took too long and Bush fucked around too much before things started happening.. but lets just say, that's the best the could have done.

It still doesn't account for the fact that N.O. has always been a target and they tried taking the cheap way out, didn't have the levis in place that they should have had, and now thousands are dead because of it.

Stop mentioning the people on the overpass.THEY WERE BROUGHT THERE. It was a spot where rescued people were being taken and it was next to impossible to get suppies to them.

Were you there? Do you have any idea what or why? No. You are mimicking what you heard in the press.

Yes, they have even had a plan for if this were to happen but I am sure it didn't go as PLANED and when 3/4's of the people who were suppose to put the plan into motion not showing up for work or the other hundreds of things that happened changed things.

People really need to letting it fucking go and stop trying to act like they should be working for the red cross or acting like they really know anything about why things are apearing to be happening so slow.

No one gave a shit about the levis before all this so don't pretend like it is some sort of issue with you now. The whole world stops being perfect the second something bad happens but before it does, no one gives a shit.

Pretty much agree with that suprisingly, it does appear that Bush has handled this poorly but at the time people accused him of handling Spetember 11th poorly, now in most journals I read on 9/11 they are quite complimentary.

In hindsight when the debris has been cleared we'll EXACTLY whay has happened as opposed to getting information from stranded people who have lost everything and have a camera pointed in their face. Not exactly impartial.
