Rep Power: 11 ![]() | Education How much value do you place on education? Say you have kids. Would you mortgage your genitalia to send them to the best school? How did your parents value giving you the top education? |

Rep Power: 19 ![]() | I went to a couple private schools, one in the expensive range. However, my parents never seemed to push me at all with school. They never said a word about college and hardly complained if I was lacking in the grade department. I'm not sure how much I value education for myself. I would say very little. I'm in college to get out and be on my way, not for any inner wisdom. I think if I had kids I would push it on them though. I think it's hard for kids to be disciplined about school and learning unless someone else is there pushing them along. It's either the books or the belt, kids. I think they'll make the right choice. And if not, that's my exercise for the day. |

Some children like to be in a group of serious over achievers, some children like to be a big fish in a smaller pond. My own eldest daughter could have gone on to a very decent school but before we had to start thinking of how we were going to finance that, she made it very clear she didn't want to go there and wanted to stay with the friends she has. The question for me was more about how much do you push your children if they could go further in order to sacrifice some of their childhood happiness.

Rep Power: 71 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My high school teachers put fear in me that I wouldn't go anywhere if I didn't further my education. So..I ended up going on with my education and I'm still at it to this day. My parents..well, they were both kind of lucky. Neither one of them had to get that much schooling after they graduated and still ended up with decent jobs. I think they figuered I'd be able to do the same, but my high school teachers told me that you can't get anywhere without at least two years, most likely four years of school after graduation in this day and age. I'm not entirely sure what to think, but I don't have a problem with attending more school. School is easy, it's life that can be hard. If I had kids I'd probably suggest that they attend college, even if it's just to gain more life experience before they go out in the real world, I think it'd be benneficial.
