Golf Outings

Anyone have any advice on how to shoot a good game?

Basically, we're having our little outing with some of our biggest clients/vendors in a few weeks. When I go there I don't want to be the worst golfer there is. Then again, they're all going to be drinking so will it really matter?

Tell me about this golf outing thing! I'll check back later. I'm going to practice my game.

Go to the driving range before and PRACTICE! An hour on the range makes a huge difference. Go to the course early the day of the tournie as well, and practice on the putting green for a bit. Every decent course should have a practice putting green.

Try using a softer ball to start. Insted of just going for cheap, crappy Top Flite, spend a little more money and try either a Maxfli Noodle, or a Titleist NXT (or an NXT tour). Both are a little pricy, but you will notice a big difference in your game. Avoid Pinnacle balls by all means, they are crappy distance balls.

When swiging your driver, it is better for learners to take a slower backswing, and then swing faster at the ball, and make sure to follow through, your elbow pointing at where you want the ball to go. And the bigger the driver head, the better if your a beginnger.

Ok, ignore everything she just said (no offence Pink).
The good balls will make absolutely no difference in your game. They make a difference only when you are good. The best advice I can give you is, take 3/4 swings. Also, stay away from the driver and the woods. Use the higher irons like the 7 even from the t box.

Well, I could drive pretty good, but with a nasty slice. By the end of the game I start to compensate for that by not swinging as hard, and aiming the fairway over. I just all out suck at chipping & putting.

What are you talking about? You obviously don’t golf too often if you are not aware of the colossal difference between say a ProV and a Top Flite. Every golfer is going to have much more control off a softer ball, and is more likely to hook or slice it with a harder, cheaper ball. I am apprentice to 3 golf pros at my work, believe me, golf is slowly taking over my life.

He is never going to get any distance if he doesen't use a driver. A driver is elementary to the game of golf. One just has to learn how to properly use it.

I really can't give advice. I play really good until I get to the green but I couldn't explain why that is. I think my driving distance helps me a lot. And while this will sound stupid I think analog swinging in video games has helped me get a little smarter with my swing. I also try to never focus on the ideal spot that I want the ball to go. I find when I try to focus on that I end up doing the opposite and hitting to the last spot I would want it to go.

As for Reverend Rudy........ have you even played golf? Avoding drivers and woods from the tee? On a par 3 yes, on a par 4 sometime depending on the hole and on a par 5 very rarely.

Well look at it this way, today Tiger Woods shot a 66 in 18 holes. That means you're half as good as Tiger Woods haha.

Does that mean I can have half as much money as he makes?
