it's usually weak-minded people who do such things. I mean, everybody is affected by their surroundings a little bit, but the people who go way out of their way to either fit in or not fit in are the ones who don't feel good enough about themselves.

They either need to conform because they don't feel like their true person is god enough, or they try to be non-conformist so they can stand out and not feel like a small fish in a big sea

In real life.


I just work in Boston and see so many different types of people. You could almost put them into groups.


Lots of those skateboarders as well in the city. They all look exactly the same. Grubby hair, dirty t-shirts, 100 pounds soaking wet and complete lack of respect for everyone and everything around them. They just think they are so cool and unique that it makes me wanna puke.


I realize that's not exactly the point of the thread, but being original isnt just doing whatever you want.

If I see some guy walking down the street with fishnet stalking, goth look thing going on and black fingernails, to me that is screaming "Look at me, I have no self respect or friends so I scream to be looked at and talked about" I can't help but internally laugh my ass off at the lengths people will go to to "stand out" while pretending they are just being themselves.


It's all a sham.

Everything in life is like pro-wrestling. Everything. It's just a gimmick that you sell to someone else. The guy who gets most over wins and he also happens to be one of the biggest whores.

Even Mick Foley had a gimmick. He still has his self respect, even today, but he can't walk at all so what good is it?

In conclusion, we all are an ever-peeling onion which will never un-wrap itself completely. The man who is most himself is the one who knows he never can be.
