Is it worth it? Yes..if you have a great time I think it's worth going to see them. It depends on how much you love sports.

Do they get paid too much? No. Reason being, they are making money for the owners alot more money than they'll ever see, so they deserve a nice percent of what the owners are getting.

Nobody would say the owners are making too much because they are just running a business.

What about hockey? I think that only 1 or 2 clubs were making a profit. I think most athletes make too much(not lacrosse players, who at less than $20K are UNDERpaid), that idiot Terrel Owens for example is making about $7 million and wants more money, or Latrel Sprewell was was getting $10 million and said he needed more to "feed his family".
Whatever happened to the days when an athlete played because he loved the sport? Nowadays they care more about money that playing. Do athletes really need to make millions of dollars for something that they don't even do all year?

It doesn't really bother me. Such a tiny fraction of people who pursue careers in athletics actually make a cent, with the majority pumping gas to fill their overbloated ass with beer by the time they're 30, that it isn't different really to many other careers, in that the top 0.00001% of pretty much any job take a fair paycheque.

So next time you get pissed about that dumb ass jock who makes 10 million, think of all the thousands of other dumbass jocks who can't even afford Advanced Hair to fix their years of steroid abuse.

I think they get paid way too much. I think they should have a cut off at like $250,000 a year. That is enough money for them to live really well and they should just enjoy there job if they really like playing that much it should be payment enough. It would stop all of the idiotic contract negotiations too. I mean come on aren't they rich enough all ready?

Exactley Dakstang, I just don't get how somebody who makes millions of dollars a year just from their contract(not to mention whatever endorsement money they get) can complain that they are not making enougth money.

You think this shit only goes on in sport? It happens when you are good at anything.

I know lawyers who make several hundred thousand a year. They spend more time working on their own contract and playing political games within the office than on any of their cases.

It's the same when you get to the top of ANY profession. It's just made public with sport cause people actually care which team signs who, but couldn't care less what lawyers were working for what firm, or which doctor was the new chief of staff at a hospital.

Throw into the mix that most athletes have about 10 years before they're pumping gas, whereas most other professions you keep climbing till you die/retire, I can understand why they'd wanna get what they can while they can.

Oh I can understand why they would want to get all they can while they can. I would do the same thing if I was in their position. But the question was do they make too much money? In my humble opinion they do.

Do you also agree that EVERYONE who earns more than $250 000 a year is making too much?

What about the Bush/Kennedy/Rockafellar family's, who never work a day for riches well beyond the earnings of any athlete? Are you saying that we should all be born equal and be paid equal despite some of us being better than others?

There's a word for that, you pinko.

Dak, you socialist. Did you stop watching Fox News last night and click over to CNN (The Clinton News Network)?

I don't think athletes get paid enough. No way, Jose. This is America. And in America you should get every cent you can get and beat out of the guy next to you.

Hell, I think Americans who don't make millions of dollars should sell their kidneys so these superstar athletes can have a little more money. And hell, I hope the owners charge a little bit more on seats, beer, and hotdogs so I can't even afford to see the game.

I think that would rule.
