Do you ever find yourself completely disinterested in the world?

When I was young my mother wrapped me in discarded cotton from Asprin bottles and we called it apathy.

The gay marriage of evolution was celebrated in the church of atrophy today but no one really cared.

The point of this thread is this: Have you ever found yourself completely indifferent to what's going on around you?

War? Terrorism? Aids? Republicans? Conservatives? Evolution? Religion? We're being constantly bombarded with this shit, how can you really pay attention or put real emotion into it?

Everyday two of my co-workers argue about something. The war on terror, how it's being fought. And I just sit there. I don't care. Like any of it really matters anyway. I just wonder how much change is in my pocket because I want to have a soda. I know I won't solve the worlds problems with a minute of rage towards or for humanity.

And for these people yelling back and forth. You want to tell them, "Hey, you stupid son of a bitch! You are 29 years old and now it's time to move on. Terrorism doesn't care about you and neither does anyone else, even your opponent."

I know how you feel. Most of the time I just sit there while "smarter" people discuss the world issues and then when the conversation moves to sports I start talking. You know, Sports? The things that really matter. lol. And no, I'm not joking either, most of the time I watch Sportscenter before I'll turn on CNN. Most of the time, I just don't care.

That's not to say that I don't care about the soldiers in Iraq, Of course, I'm grateful that they are fighting for us, and I want this all to end, and all of them to come home. But at the end of the day, me bitching about it, isn't going to make a difference.

Yup, that's me...people are always arguing about war, terrorism, politics, etc...but I never seem to care...I just go on with my business and try to have fun...hell, I don't even read the damn newspaper, so I don't even know what's going on...and to be honest, I don't really care unless it threaten me in some sort of way...but I do care about Jesus and tryin to follow his ways...

You can see this kind of thing in two ways.

On one hand, you only have one life and unless it is directly threatened (I dont count vague finger pointing at terrorist ragheads) then you shouldnt worry so much about the world. You should stimulate yourself by going on with your life and having as much fun as possible (sex).

At the other end, everything that happens in politics and the world around us effects us directly in a way because we discover our reaction and opinions to everything. We only have one life and should stimulate our minds by experiencing more emotions then just fun, its like only using 2% of your brain. There's a universe of debates out there, and in a way, debating can be fun (But never on here, neeeever on here).

Personally, when I see someone who only knows who George Bush is after he appears in some funny cartoon, or has no idea who Condaleeza Rice is, I think that person is pretty much an ignorant jackass who is stupid, retarded and incapable. Its just my natural mentality to feel that way.

Pick up a damn newspaper, damnit.

It's not so much about being informed. I read the paper (and I don't read the articles about girls missing or stupid shit like that, I read the real news), watch the news, and keep myself up-to-date on the daily happenings.

However, I don't feel like getting all emotional about every bit of news that comes up. There's no use in that. It's so common for people to do though, especially in this day and age.

Yeah, I used to be a bit of an activist in high school, now I'm just like fuck it, I don't expect human beings to be around forever, we're all just a blip in the grand scale of things, and the universe will go on long after we're gone.

Let's just have fun while it lasts.
