Is 5 billion dollars worth it?

Evertime NASA sends a space shuttle to the moon it costs the USA 5 billion dollars.


Could this money be spent elsewhere? Is space travel (to the moon) really necessary? What exactly have we found out about the moon besides the fact that its not made out of cheese?

Seriously though, I realize that without going to the moon, we will never be able to advance to other planets, but again.......is it necessary?

5 billion dollars seems like it could be spent so many better ways if you ask me.

I think there is a lot of research and testing that they do up there. I really can't say how we benifit from space travel that would justufy that kind of price but I don't think anyone is really going to challenge.. it either. It is too interesting to really complain about if yo uask me.

I thought all the planets created sound waves when they orbit. I was sortof watching a show on that the other night. that each planet had it's own unique sound waves that occured in orbit.


I think the money could go to many things other than space exploration. I also think it's a little odd that we spend so much time on space when less than 1% of the deep ocean has been explored. both are interesting and can teach us a lot.
(I love deep sea life btw, I wish I could bring up some deep sea squids and worms and anglerfish and whatnot, but the pressure change would destroy their insanely cute little bodies.)
