Rep Power: 71 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A kid that used to live down the street from me Source: Boston.com Man pleads not guilty in slaying of Webster teen By Cristina Silva, Globe Correspondent | July 27, 2005 DUDLEY -- Crying and shaking as she left the courtroom, the mother of an 18-year-old from Webster who was stabbed and beaten to death and left in the middle of a rural road last weekend prayed for the man who is charged with her son's murder. ''Aaron knows his god," Aaron A. Gibeault's mother said repeatedly, declining to give her name. ''This boy needs to find him. He needs to find God." Investigators say Jose Colon, 21, of Dudley, stabbed Gibeault in the chest and back and struck him in the face and back of the head numerous times with a rock before leaving him for dead. The chief medical examiner's office in Boston has ruled the death a homicide. Colon was arraigned in Dudley District Court yesterday, charged with murder. Colon, who does not speak English, used a translator. Appearing in a white tank top and blue gym shorts, he pleaded not guilty in a packed courtroom. Judge Neil G. Snider ordered Colon held without bail. Gibeault was found dead Saturday evening behind an auto body shop on Oxford Avenue in Dudley, said John J. Conte, Worcester district attorney. A passerby called 911, Conte said. Police arrested Colon in Dudley at 9:30 p.m. Monday, said Dudley Police Chief Steven Wajnar. Prosecutors did not cite a motive, and investigators did not say whether Colon and Gibeault knew each other. Colon is unemployed and is believed to have a criminal record in Illinois and Puerto Rico, including charges of cocaine possession, said prosecutor Donald Xenos during the proceedings. Michael S. Hussey, Colon's lawyer, said he had not had time to discuss specifics of the case with Colon before the arraignment | |
