Trouble Scenario #1

Say you and your friend are driving around in the AM hours. You are having a laugh or two when all of a sudden the car makes a loud thud noise like a baseball bat hitting a sack of crap. Suddenly you realize that your friend has hit someone.

You both get out of the car and the news is grim. You've just hit a man, in his late 30s, and he is dead as dead can be. Your friend is scared shitless and decides that it was just bad luck, it wasn't his fault, he doesn't want to get into any legal trouble when he isn't in the wrong and it appears somewhat ambigious, and so he is just going to get back in the car and drive away.

Your friend has a point. It really wasn't his fault. He was watching the road close enough, this guy just appeared out of nowhere. However, it's a human being. And you could get into trouble for this. Where does your loyality stand with, your friend or the law?

Your friend drives you home and this is where your decision comes in. What do you do? Do you call the police? Do you go along with your friend and just leave what is be?

THIS is why I don't like to have friends. Always getting me in trouble with the cops and what not.

try to get him to talk to the cops but ultimately it's his call. If he decides to do so I'll testify on his behalf. If he decides against it I will keep my mouth shut and direct all questions to him.

This sounds like a bad Freddy Prinzzze movie. Or maybe it actually was.

Hmmm though, I'd convince him that it wasnt his fault, that the man who was hit was wearing dark clothing, came out of nowhere into the middle of the road, as well as try and re-assure him that the justice system may be flawed but if he calls ANY lawyer (and tell him how my lawyer uncle Bob and all his lawyer buddies have told me about this) they will tell him its a positively flawless case that happens all the time, and probably wont even go to court. Then I'd laugh as they haul his murdering ass to the chair.

Are we sure the guy is dead. I've seen movies like this and the guy is always still alive.....as we find out later.

Seriously though, I'd want us to stay with the body and phone the police from a mobile. First of all, I'd want to be absolutely certain the guy has no chance of surviving and secondly, I do not need that kind of crap on my conscience for the rest of my life.

Put it this way. You take off, you are an accessory to murder.

You stay and call the police you are a dude that was sitting in a car with a man that commited unvolutary manslaughter.

Plus the fact that would would most likely suffer mental damage if you left that on your conscience.
