Disco, I'm sure you're gonna love this...

So about a year ago, I read the Da Vinci Code. I loved it, because it's a fast read (I read it in 3 days), it's an easy read, and I'm a dork so I liked all the talk about art history and architecture, and codes and all that shit.

A few weeks ago I read Angels and Demons, an earlier book by Brown, and when comparing it to the Da Vinci Code I realized...IT'S THE SAME GODDAMN BOOK!!!!

The plot was almost ENTIRELY the same



*spoiler alert...read no further if you plan on reading either book*





In both books, a brilliant man is mysteriously murdered. Robert Langdon is awoken in the middle of the night to come look at the scene. He meets the beautiful daughter of the murdered man, as well as a tough, quasi-antagonist. The killer is a shadowy figure who does not fit in with society, and is being ordered to kill by an anonymous man. Langdon and the daughter travel all around Europe looking for clues. They meet a wise friend who helps them piece things together. The anonymous man ordering the murders is revealed to be the wise friend. The book ends with Langdon and the beautiful daughter falling in love.

Seriously...I have much less respect for him as a writer now

Have read The Da Vinci Code and Digital Fortress which is really good and i'm a small way through deception point, i have angels and demons but probably won't read it now however the Da Vinci Code is a follow up to Angels and demons which is why it is probably so similar.

Yeah I loved the Da Vinci Code too but after reading all fourof his books you can tell who the bad guy is from the opening chapter because its always the guy who it REALLY REALLY shouldn't be.

Yeah, I stand by my claim that the Di Vinci Code is Indianna Jones without the cool action scenes.

I haven't read any of his other books, but I'm not suprised to learn that they're all the same. That's because the Di Vinci code reads like almost any bland, generic, unknown murder mystery ever written. Throw in a bit of conspiracy theory, and you've got yourself a number one seller. Sad isn't it.
